Ice House” by Matthew Radune & Gregory Holm
Having been ravaged by the economy, the Detroit area has seen its residential areas thrown into disrepair resulting in many abandoned homes. This notion inspired Matthew Radune and Gregory Holm to take a different outlook on the vacant spots by creating their “Ice House” installation at 3920 McClellanon, on the east side of Detroit. An architect and photographer respectively, Radune and Holm sought the opportunity to highlight optimism as well as the much-needed injection of support into the city’s infrastructure.

Interesting launch of new England shirt
This is the first time that a shirt has been unveiled in this way, and if you ask us, it’s a pretty cool way of doing things.
So what did Kasabian think about getting involved with Umbro and unveiling the new Away shirt in this way? Keep your eyes here on the Umbro blog, as we’ll have an interview with Tom about the whole experience up here very soon. We’ll also be telling you exactly why we decided to unveil the kit in this way – with an English band, abroad – later today.

The Clipse – Freedom (Directed by Illusive Media)
Shomi Patwary of Illusive Media helmed the official video for Freedom – the opening track to the Clipse’ Til The Casket Drops. Arguably one of the best cuts off the album we witness the Hip Hop duo from a reflective perspective as they pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., The Notorious B.I.G and the group’s manager who recently has been sentenced to 32 years in prison. Displayed in black white cinematography the visual fits well with the introspective bars by Pusha T and Malice. Til The Casket Drops available now.

MUJI x LEGO Paper & Punch Set
With its unorthodox “no-brand-name” and minimalist store layouts, MUJI has become a respected brand on a global scale despite its lack of presence outside of Japan. Nevertheless MUJI’s well-stocked stationery collection has teamed up with LEGO on an interesting project. Combining LEGO’s traditional block creations with paper, you’re able to add a new dimension to pre-existing LEGO build-outs. Unfortunately, these will only be available through MUJI stores.
Tim Burton MOMA Exhibition Preview
The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York City will be soon opening a retrospective showcase of Tim Burton’s iconic work within its walls. Seen here is a preview of whats in store as well as a description of the exhibition, running through April 26th, 2010, courtesy of the MOMA.
“This major career retrospective on Tim Burton (American, b. 1958), consisting of a gallery exhibition and a film series, considers Burton’s career as a director, producer, writer, and concept artist for live-action and animated films, along with his work as a fiction writer, photographer and illustrator. Following the current of his visual imagination from early childhood drawings through his mature work, the exhibition presents artwork generated during the conception and production of his films, and highlights a number of unrealized projects and never-before-seen pieces, as well as student art, his earliest non-professional films, and examples of his work as a storyteller and graphic artist for non-film projects. The opposing themes of adolescence and adulthood, and the elements of sentiment, cynicism, and humor inform his work in a variety of mediums—drawings, paintings, storyboards, digital and moving-image formats, puppets and maquettes, props, costumes, ephemera, sketchbooks, and cartoons. Taking inspiration from sources in pop culture, Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking as a spiritual experience, influencing a generation of young artists working in film, video, and graphics.”
An opening is scheduled for Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 with further information available here.
